Sassuolo: Inter approach for Muharemovic, not Bournemouth. Locatelli was ‘already sold’ to Arsenal

Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali says that Inter and Bologna, but not Bournemouth, have made approaches for  Tarik Muharemovic and confirms that the Neroverdi had an agreement with Arsenal for Manuel Locatelli in 2021.

Sassuolo centre-back Muharemovic, a product of the Juventus Academy, has attracted interest from several Italian clubs, the Neroverdi directors Carnevali confirmed in an interview with Tuttosport.

Inter are among the clubs following the Bosnia and Herzegovina international, but Carnevali denied that Bournemouth have approached the promising defender.

“We don’t have to sell Muharemovic at all costs,” Carnevali said.

“We want to develop and enhance his value. I had already sold Locatelli to Arsenal, but he preferred Juventus, and we chose to satisfy him, giving up a bit of extra money. For us, Tarik doesn’t have a price today because a lot depends on who comes asking for him.”

Locatelli joined Juventus in the summer of 2021 after winning the Euros with the Italy national team. The Azzurri midfielder rejected a move to North London to join the Bianconeri.

“Muharemovic has great potential, and it’s normal that if a big club comes in, we listen,” Carnevali continued.

“Then, however, we also have to find a replacement. We’ve already had a few approaches. Not from Bournemouth, but from Inter, although there’s no official offer. Bologna also asked about Muharemovic the other night.”

Juventus still hold a 50% sell-on clause on Muharemovic, and according to Sky Sport Italia, the Bianconeri could give up their percentage to ease negotiations between Inter and Sassuolo and get a lower transfer fee for Nerazzurri midfielder Davide Frattesi.

“I’m thinking about our own transfer market, certainly not Juventus’ financial arrangements,” concluded Carnevali.

“Perhaps Juventus could also be interested in Muharemovic, who knows…”

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
