“The player is keen…”: Tottenham ‘offered’ chance to sign “outstanding” 67-cap Germany international in January

Tottenham Hotspur returned to winning ways on Sunday night, earning a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Crystal Palace thanks to Archie Gray’s decisive strike at Selhurst Park.

The win lifted Thomas Frank’s side back towards the top half of the Premier League table, but inconsistency remains a major concern.

Spurs have shown flashes of brilliance, yet results continue to fluctuate, making January reinforcements a priority for the club.

Tottenham have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Bayern Munich and Germany midfielder Leon Goretzka in the upcoming January window.

The 30-year-old, who has earned 67 caps for his country and has been described as “outstanding” by Sami Khedira, has seen his role at Bayern diminish under Vincent Kompany.

While he still features regularly in the Bundesliga, Goretzka often gets substituted around the hour mark and has not started a single Champions League match this season.

According to transfer insider Dean Jones, Spurs are receptive to the idea: “There have been a few stories linking Spurs with Goretzka and there is something in it. The player is keen to explore a move to the Premier League and since Spurs have been sounded out, there have been a few people willing to consider the idea.”

Goretzka is a midfielder capable of bringing consistency and leadership to Tottenham’s central midfield — qualities that have been lacking throughout the campaign.

With January approaching, Spurs may have a real opportunity to bring in a proven international to help stabilize the middle of the park.
