Gazzetta: Milan submit official contract offer to expiring Maignan

Milan are still hoping to tie down goalkeeper Mike Maignan to a new contract, and reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that the Rossoneri have tabled a new and improved offer for the Frenchman, whose current deal is set to expire in June.

Maignan, who has made 181 competitive appearances for Milan over the last four-and-a-half seasons, is into the final year of his contract in San Siro, expiring at the end of the end of the 2025-26 campaign.

Massimiliano Allegri’s side have not yet made a breakthrough in talks with the 30-year-old, which has alerted several of Europe’s top sides including the likes of Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and even Juventus according to recent reports.

According to the latest reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan are ‘doing everything they can’ to convince Maignan to extend his deal, and are ‘confident’ that he will put pen to paper.

Reports on Boxing Day suggest that Milan have offered Maignan a new contract worth around €7m per season in wages (net), including bonuses. This would place Maignan alongside Rafael Leao as the club’s highest earners. This would be a contract until either 2029 or 2030. 

Maignan has reportedly been asking for a salary that starts at €7.5m per season.

If Milan are not able to tie Maignan down to a new deal, there have been suggestions that they could move for Corinthians and Brazil stopper Hugo Souza. Zion Suzuki, prior to his injury, had also been mentioned as a suitable candidate for the Rossoneri.
