Former AC Milan and Chelsea defender Thiago Silva will not be returning to his former clubs, as this afternoon he formally signed for FC Porto.
The 41-year-old is still determined to participate in the 2026 World Cup and feels he can convince Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti if he is playing in a European league.
So he called time on his contract with Fluminense and was linked with a possible return to some of his former clubs, specifically AC Milan or Chelsea.
However, neither side particularly pursued this idea, and that speculation can now be stopped with news Thiago Silva has joined FC Porto.
This too is a return of sorts, even though he was only there for six months in 2005.
It was somewhat bizarrely announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, in a video with transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano.

The player himself wore an FC Porto shirt and confirmed he was “so happy and flattered with this opportunity.”
He thanked Italian coach Francesco Farioli, who is in charge of Porto this season.
This contract is until June 2026, with an option to extend until June 2027.
