Arsenal are reported to be closely tracking Milan’s highly-rated youngster Lorenzo Torriani, though the Serie A giants do not yet view the Gunners’ interest as a serious threat, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 2005-born goalkeeper currently features for Milan Futuro, the club’s B-team, and first caught Arsenal’s attention during a pre-season friendly over the summer, where he impressively saved three penalties.
Despite the external interest, Torriani is not expected to be loaned out this January. Instead, he is likely to remain at Milan while both he and the club evaluate his long-term future over the summer.
Torriani has already made two senior appearances for the Rossoneri, including a Champions League outing against Liverpool last year, and has been included on the bench several times in recent months.
The young goalkeeper has received glowing praise from former Milan boss Paulo Fonseca, who highlighted Torriani’s courage and maturity during Milan’s pre-season tour of the United States.
Speaking to MilanReports, Fonseca said: “The goalkeeper? I have no words for him… Sportiello got an injury in the hotel. He played his games with big personality, big character, big courage. It’s too early. But I have no doubt we have a goalkeeper for the future. This kid will have a bright future.”
Respected journalist and Milan fan Carlo Pellegatti, meanwhile, described him as “decisive.”
Arsenal are clearly intrigued by his potential, with scouts keeping a close eye on the teenager as they consider options for strengthening their squad in the coming years.
Elsewhere, Arsenal are also said to be keeping tabs on Real Madrid defender Victor Valdepenas.
Over the years, he's had the pleasure of interviewing some of the biggest names in world sport, including Usain Bolt, Rafael Nadal, Christian Pulisic, and more.
