Chelsea are back in winning form after a turbulent run of results.

The Blues snapped a four-game winless streak at the weekend with a 2–0 victory over Everton at Stamford Bridge. Goals from Cole Palmer and Malo Gusto — the latter also setting up Palmer’s opener — secured all three points and moved Chelsea back into the Premier League’s top four.

With the January transfer window looming, Chelsea are once again looking to strengthen for both the present and the future. And it appears the club may already be taking steps behind the scenes on a high-profile prospect.

Chelsea have reportedly held discussions with the father of Cassiano Kiala, the 16-year-old Bayern Munich central defender, according to Mirror Football.

Kiala, a Germany U17 international, has been on the cusp of a first-team breakthrough in Bavaria. He has been an unused substitute for Bayern on seven occasions this season and has trained regularly with the senior squad since late in the 2024-25 campaign.

Capable of playing both as a centre-back and a defensive midfielder, he was also part of Bayern’s travelling squad for last summer’s Club World Cup in the United States.

Sources report that super-agent Jorge Mendes visited Munich last week to meet with Kiala and his family, with his Gestifute agency expected to handle the player’s professional affairs moving forward.

Shortly after, Kiala’s father flew to London for a whistle-stop visit, meeting with representatives from both Chelsea and Manchester City before returning to Germany the following day.

The discussions appear focused on building a relationship for the future, rather than an immediate transfer. Kiala does not turn 18 until January 11, 2027, and his current Bayern contract runs until June of that year.

Jonathan Tah, fellow Bayern defender, has praised the youngster following pre-season friendlies against Tottenham and Lyon, calling him “a top-class centre-back.” Bayern, meanwhile, are keen to retain the prodigy amid interest from Premier League clubs.

Chelsea’s scouting of Kiala signals their continued commitment to targeting elite young talent, potentially securing a key piece for the long-term defensive future of the Blues.
