Manchester City and Manchester United are both pursuing a summer transfer window move for Elliot Anderson, but Nottingham Forest’s asking price is expected to rise.
The England international, who has been earning rave reviews in recent times, including being called “phenomenal” by Three Lions teammate Reece James, has been talked up as potentially a £100m player already.
However, the latest from Football Insider is that Forest could even raise his asking price further by next summer once he’s had the chance to impress with England at the 2026 World Cup.
City are perhaps being the most strongly linked with Anderson at the moment, and it certainly seems like the 23-year-old would make sense as a big investment to come in as the long-term replacement for Rodri.
Pep Guardiola has had to do something of a rebuilding job at City in recent times, with big names and experienced winners like Kevin De Bruyne and Ederson leaving over the summer.
Meanwhile, Rodri’s ongoing fitness issues mean there’s also a gap to be filled there, and Anderson shares many similarities with the Spain international.
Fans who are looking into how to buy Real Madrid vs Man City tickets will likely be feeling a bit nervous about such a big game after witnessing their side only managing to scrape unconvincing wins against Leeds and Fulham, conceding a total of six goals in those two games.
The upcoming trip to the Bernabeu will be a real test of this current squad, and likely give fans a better idea of what’s needed to improve things next season.
United also need to rebuild their midfield, however, with Anderson looking perfect to come in and replace the ageing Casemiro and the unconvincing Manuel Ugarte.
Meanwhile, Kobbie Mainoo’s future looks in real doubt after a lack of playing time under Ruben Amorim, so it may be that the Red Devils need to make more than one signing in that position.
Other top talents like Adam Wharton and Carlos Baleba have also been linked with United in recent times, and it may be that they’ll have to go after those two instead of Anderson.
If Forest really start demanding over £100m for the former Newcastle youngster, then that will probably be more affordable for City than for United.
