Tottenham Hotspur’s last fortnight has been nothing short of disastrous.
A humbling 4–1 North London Derby defeat to Arsenal — featuring a brutal hat-trick from almost-Spur Eberechi Eze — was followed by a wild 5–3 loss to PSG in the Champions League, with Vitinha helping himself to a treble.
That slide continued against Fulham as early defensive lapses and a costly mistake from Guglielmo Vicario sealed a 2–1 defeat.
Even midweek brought little relief: a 2–2 draw with Newcastle, rescued only by Cristian Romero scoring twice — including an outrageous last-gasp overhead kick. When your centre-back is your main goal threat, something’s wrong.
With the attack misfiring, Spurs are now turning to January in search of firepower.
Tottenham are in “very advanced” talks with the representatives of RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande, according to Sky Sports.
Spurs have tracked the 19-year-old Ivorian – who has four goals and four assists this season – for months and recently stepped up discussions as Thomas Frank pushes for a dynamic attacker capable of stretching defences and adding unpredictability in the final third.
Liverpool are also heavily involved, viewing Diomande as a key option as they rebuild their frontline.
For now, Leipzig have not formally entered negotiations with any club, but are closely watching developments around the player — who was recently praised by his manager as someone who has “got so much talent.”
Barcelona are monitoring the situation as well, though their interest remains at an early, exploratory stage with no official talks scheduled.
Leipzig have yet to set a public asking price, but competition between Premier League giants and Barça means they are expected to demand a significant fee for their emerging star.
A January battle for Diomande appears increasingly likely — and Tottenham, desperate to revive their season, seem determined to be at the front of the queue.
Over the years, he's had the pleasure of interviewing some of the biggest names in world sport, including Usain Bolt, Rafael Nadal, Christian Pulisic, and more.
