Thuram and Bonny hail Inter strength in depth after 5-1 triumph

Marcus Thuram and Ange-Yoan Bonny point out the strength in depth at Inter after their 5-1 Coppa Italia win over Venezia. ‘We will play to our best in every competition and see where we end up.’

The Nerazzurri made short work of Venezia this evening at San Siro, who had been the only remaining Serie B side in the Coppa Italia.

Andy Diouf, Francesco Pio Esposito and Ange-Yoan Bonny were on target, along with a brace for Thuram, while Richie Sagrado got a consolation goal for the Lagunari when his finish was deflected off Carlos Augusto.

“Aside from the goals, the important thing was the attitude and the overall approach that we took,” Thuram told Sport Mediaset.

There were also senior debuts for Matteo Cocchi, Leonardo Bovo and Matteo Spinaccè, who usually represent the Inter Under-23 side.

“We are a strong squad, we have 23-24 players of a high level, plus those young players who train with us and can give Inter a big hand.”

When it comes to Serie A, the Champions League and Coppa Italia, Thuram is holding nothing back.

“As I said before the game, we will play to our best in every competition and see where we end up.”

This result means Inter will play either Roma or Torino in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals, but they won’t find out who their rivals will be until January 13.

“The team worked really hard, I am very happy to have scored a goal this evening,” Bonny told Sport Mediaset.

The French-speaking players in the squad have tried to give summer signings a warm welcome, including Andy Diouf.

“We’re pleased for Diouf, because he did not have an easy start, but he is proving his real quality to everyone now,” concluded Bonny.

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
