Arsenal are considering a move for Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi. The 23-year-old has developed into one of the Bundesliga’s brightest stars, registering 28 goal contributions in 56 appearances.
Adeyemi is locked in crunch contract talks with Dortmund, with his current deal expiring in 2027. So far no progress has been made, and The Mirror has reported that Arsenal are weighing up a move for the Germany international who is valued at £75m.
It was reported in November that Dortmund are keen to extend the player’s deal and increase his wages from €5.7m a year to €7.2m a year (around £96,000 a week to £122,000 a week). The player’s agent Jorge Mendes however feels his client is worth a bigger package and has begun talks with other interested parties.
Several clubs in the Premier League and across Europe are known to be interested suitors, but Adeyemi’s entourage have reportedly signaled a preference for London and Arsenal’s project specifically. Manchester United is one of the other teams confirmed to be interested in Adeyemi but are expected to focus on other targets.
A summer move is more likely that a January move, as the player will be down to his final year at that point.
Adeyemi plays primarily on either flank but can play anywhere along a front three. Known for his pace and dribbling ability, many of the Gunners faithful believe he can be a long term solution for the club’s needs in left wing.
The player is reportedly not angling for a move away from Dortmund, but is open to a new challenge if a new deal cannot be agreed. Inter Milan and Barcelona are also known admirers. Adeyemi has 11 caps for Germany and is pushing for a place in next summer’s World Cup squad.
Arsenal were one of the summer’s biggest spenders. They spent over £250m on the additions of Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze, Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Christian Norgaard, Cristhian Mosquera, Piero Hincapie and Kepa Arrizabalaga .
