Reports in Italy claim that former Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne has an agreement in place to return to Serie A with Lazio, almost four years after he left the Partenopei to join Toronto in MLS.
Insigne has been available as a free agent since the beginning of the summer, when he reached an agreement to terminate his Toronto contract by mutual consent.
The 34-year-old has 337 Serie A appearances to his name and a tally of 96 league goals over that period. He found the net on 15 occasions from 66 outings with Toronto in North America.
Several Serie A sides have been linked with a move for the former Italy international over the course of the season, including relegation strugglers Fiorentina, however, reports from Il Messaggero (via TMW) indicate that there is now an agreement in place for the veteran forward to join Lazio.
According to Friday’s report, Insigne could officially become a new Lazio player within the next 48 hours.
Il Messaggero reports that Insigne is set to earn a salary in the region of €1.2m to €1.3m.
