Manchester City are keen on Eintracht Frankfurt left back Nathaniel Brown. The 22-year-old has enjoyed a meteoric rise for his performances this season which saw him rewarded with his first international appearance for Germany.

Brown joined Frankfurt from Nurnberg in 2024. He struggled for first team minutes and was left out Frankfurt’s European squad before being loaned back to Nurnberg for the second half of the 2024/25 season.

He returned to Frankfurt ahead of the current 2025/26 season and has cemented himself as first choice left back at the club. He is now on the radar of Manchester City who have struggled to find a long term solution in left back.

Young midfielder Nico O’Reilly has deputized in that position for much of the season but is not seen as a long term solution. City boss Pep Guardiola has reportedly marked that area of the pitch for improvement and has identified Brown as one of his top targets.

German publication Bild has reported that Frankfurt are aware of the high transfer sum they could command for the player, and might be willing to sanction a sale after this summer’s World Cup.

Brown cost Frankfurt just €3m from Nurnberg and now has a reported value of over 20x that figure. Bild adds that Brown’s transfer value could be compared to Marc Cucurella’s move from Brighton to Chelsea in 2022 for €65.3

Brown’s figure could land somewhere similar, especially if he is included in Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany squad for this summer’s World Cup. Frankfurt sporting director Markus Kroshe has stopped short or ruling out a summer departure for the player, lauding him for his progress and for his performances against top opposition.

When asked about the future of both Brown and young playmaker Can Uzun, Kroshe said:

“Now is the wrong time to think about who might leave us and when. They’re both young and should stay with us a while longer. Can has developed superbly compared to last year. It’s a shame he’s injured now. And Nene (Brown) is simply exceptional. He’s made outstanding progress, especially when it comes to defending at a high level. Just look at how he plays against top opponents in the Champions League.”

Manchester United, Arsenal, and Real Madrid are also understood to be tracking Brown.
