Juventus midfielder Thuram called up by France for World Cup game

Juventus midfielder Khephren Thuram has been called up to the France squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Ukraine and Azerbaijan.

The player had originally been left at home for these two crucial matches, as they work to book their place at the tournament in 2026.

However, coach Didier Deschamps put in the call to bring Thuram along after an injury to Eduardo Camavinga, who is struggling with a hamstring issue.

Les Bleus will face Ukraine in Paris at Parc des Princes on Thursday at 19.45 GMT, then visit Azerbaijan in Baku on Sunday evening at 17.00 GMT.

He is set to arrive at the training camp near Paris tonight.

The son of Lilian and brother of Inter striker Marcus, Khephren Thuram made his senior France debut in the 4-0 victory over the Netherlands in March 2023.

He only has three senior caps for his country.

The 24-year-old made 13 competitive appearances this season for Juventus, contributing one goal and two assists.

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
