Report Arsenal working to poach Napoli chief scout for new role

According to various reports, Premier League side Arsenal are on the verge of poaching Napoli chief scout Maurizio Micheli to a senior recruitment role.

The negotiations with Micheli are believed to be at an advanced stage, as confirmed by BBC Sport, The Athletic and others.

It would be a big move for the 57-year-old Italian, who was credited with identifying the likes of future talents Marek Hamsik, Kim Min-Jae and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

He had been a scout at Udinese and director of sport for Brescia from 2011 to 2010.

Micheli was first appointed to the Napoli scouting network from 2010 to 2015, going on to work at Hellas Verona and Bologna before returning to the Partenopei in 2018.

Arsenal are shaking up their behind the scenes figures, losing sporting director Edu and Jason Ayto in the last 12 months.

It is not the first time Micheli has been linked with an exit from Napoli, as Juventus had reportedly made an approach in 2024.

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
