Gazzetta: Mancini accepts Al Sadd offer one year after Saudi Arabia departure

Reports in Italy claim that former Italy national team CT Roberto Mancini has accepted an offer to become the new head coach of Al Sadd in the Qatar Stars League, just over a year after he left the Saudi Arabia national team set-up.

Reports earlier this week claimed that Mancini was close to accepting an offer to take over as head coach of Al Sadd, who parted company with Felix Sanchez on October 15. Sergio Alegre has been serving as interim head coach since then.

Despite reports from Fabrizio Romano over the weekend claiming that Mancini had rejected an approach from Al Sadd, Monday’s updates from La Gazzetta dello Sport claim that the 60-year-old has in fact agreed to take over.

Monday’s report claims that Mancini has agreed to take over as head coach of Al Sadd on an initial contract until the end of the 2025-26 season.

It is understood that the coach has been exploring potential opportunities back in Italy, but has not found the right project on home soil.

La Gazzetta dello Sport predicts that Mancini could be in Qatar midway through this week in order to complete the formalities of his move to Al Sadd.

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
