Suzuki: Fractured finger and possible surgery after Parma 2-2 Milan intervention

Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki is set for a spell on the sidelines after a save he made during his side’s 2-2 draw with Milan on Saturday evening, as he has reportedly fractured his finger and may require surgery to amend the issue.

The Japan international was a starter for the 2-2 draw between Parma and Milan at the Tardini on Saturday evening. He saw his side fall 2-0 behind through Alexis Saelemaekers and Rafael Leao, before watching Adrian Bernabe and Enrico Delprato draw the scores level to 2-2.

Suzuki was called into action in the 82nd minute to prevent Saelemakers doubling his personal tally and restoring Milan’s lead.

Saelemaekers was practically one-on-one with Suzuki on the edge of the penalty area. The Belgian managed to round the goalkeeper, accidentally stepped on the goalkeeper’s hand in the process, before blazing wide of the post with his eventual shot.

According to reports from Sky Sport Italia, Suzuki has suffered a compound fracture of the third finger in his left hand. It will become clear over the next few days whether he will require surgery to fix the injury.

Suzuki has only missed one Serie A match since joining Parma in the summer of 2024, against Udinese at the beginning of the 2024-25 season, through suspension.

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
