Fabrizio Romano reports that Napoli have resumed talks with Kobbie Mainoo’s representatives, but Manchester United haven’t yet decided whether to approve the midfielder’s loan move in January.
Napoli remain interested in Manchester United midfielder Mainoo and according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, there were contacts between the Partenopei and the midfielder’s agents last week.
Football Italia understands that not only Napoli, but also Roma, are interested in Mainoo.
The Partenopei are long-time admirers of the Manchester United midfielder and already held talks last summer, said Romano.
The defending Serie A champions have continued to follow the player despite the Red Devils’ reluctance to sell the 20-year-old last summer, and the midfielder remains willing to leave Old Trafford on loan in January.
During the break, Mainoo’s agents will establish contact with Manchester United to understand whether the club is eager to let the midfielder leave on loan in the winter transfer window.
Napoli are one of the clubs interested, as Kevin De Bruyne is injured and Zambo Anguissa will join the Cameroon national team for AFCON in January.
Mainoo is tempted to join Napoli, but the player and Napoli are now waiting on Manchester United’s decision on a possible loan move.
In the meantime, the 20-year-old has been dropped by Ruben Amorim for an away game at Tottenham because of a knock, reports MEN.
