After years of inconsistency, the North London side finally look settled and confident, sitting sixth in the Premier League and performing strongly in the Champions League.
Defensively, Spurs look elite — Micky van de Ven is playing at a world-class level, while summer signing Mohammed Kudus has proven worth every penny.
Yet one issue still lingers: the lack of a consistent striker. Richarlison’s form continues to frustrate, and Dominic Solanke’s injury problems have left Frank short of options up front.
Now, the Tottenham boss could turn to a familiar face to solve that problem.
According to a report from talkSPORT, Thomas Frank is considering a sensational move to reunite with former Brentford star Ivan Toney in January.
Toney, who left the Premier League in 2024 to join Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli, has been in remarkable form abroad. The 29-year-old — once described by Pep Guardiola as “extraordinary” — has scored 41 goals in 59 appearances, leading his side to an AFC Champions League triumph.
Despite his success in the Middle East, a return to England could be tempting for Toney, especially with the 2026 World Cup on the horizon. A Premier League move would undoubtedly enhance his chances of making Thomas Tuchel’s squad.
talkSPORT reports that Al Ahli are reluctant to sanction a sale mid-season, meaning Toney himself may need to push for a move if he wants to reunite with the manager who first made him a Premier League star.
For Frank, bringing back a proven striker who knows his system inside out could be the perfect January addition to keep Spurs’ top-four challenge on track.
Over the years, he's had the pleasure of interviewing some of the biggest names in world sport, including Usain Bolt, Rafael Nadal, Christian Pulisic, and more.
