Paolo Vanoli has been officially announced as the new head coach of Fiorentina on a short-term contract until the end of the 2025-26 season with an option to extend.
Fiorentina parted company with Stefano Pioli earlier this week after a run of 10 matches without a win in Serie A at the beginning of the 2025-26 campaign. He has been replaced by Vanoli, who has been out of work since leaving Torino at the end of the 2024-25 season.
Football Italia understands that Vanoli has signed a contract with Fiorentina until the end of the 2025-26 campaign with an option to extend for a further 12 months.
His first match will be an early relegation zone six-pointer against Genoa, who currently sit two points and two positions above the 20th-placed Viola. Genoa have also dismissed their head coach Patrick Vieira this week, and have since replaced him with Daniele De Rossi.
“ACF Fiorentina announces that Paolo Vanoli is the new head coach of the Viola first team,” a statement on the club website read.
“Vanoli, born in Varese on August 12, 1972, has coached the Italy U16s, U18s and U19s in his career, Spartak Moscow, with whom he won the Russian Cup, as well as Venezia and Torino.
“The new coach will take charge of his first training session at Viola Park this afternoon.”
