Official: Serie A Player and Coach of the Month for October revealed

Gian Piero Gasperini has won the Serie A Coach of the Month for October, while Frank Zambo Anguissa was the best player.

Lega Serie A has announced the coach and player of the month for October.

Roma boss Gasperini was the best coach in the league last month, while Napoli’s Anguissa was the best player.

The other candidates for the player of the month were Federico Bonazzoli (Cremonese), Hakan Calhanoglu (Inter), Nicolò Cambiaghi (Bologna), Elia Caprile (Cagliari) and Rafael Leao (Milan).

The candidates for the player of the month were picked by an analysis taking into account statistical data and technical events, but also positional data. Players’ stats from Weeks 6 to 9, combined with fans’ votes online, determined Anguissa’s victory.

The Cameroon international scored three goals in October, including one in a 3-1 win over Inter.

The coach of the month award was assigned by a jury of Directors of sports media who evaluated each coach based on technical and sporting criteria.

“If there is one player who currently embodies the concept of a ‘box-to-box player’, it is undoubtedly Frank Zambo Anguissa,” said Lega Serie A CEO Luigi De Siervo.

“His intensity in defence, his great physical power and his innate ability to break into the opponent’s area have made him a key player in Napoli’s successes in recent years. Thanks to three decisive goals scored in October, Anguissa repeats his success as best player of the month, which he won last January, and allows the Azzurri to extend their lead in the ranking of clubs with the most Player of the Month awards, reaching 12 in seven seasons.”

As for Gasperini, De Siervo added: “Starting the season at a new club with ambitious goals like Roma is never easy, but Gian Piero Gasperini is proving once again that he is a winning coach. After the wonderful seasons with Atalanta, Gasperini has already moulded Roma according to his tactical beliefs, now a real trademark recognised throughout Europe, proposing a consistent, dynamic team devoted to attacking play.

“With three wins in October, he has taken the Giallorossi to the top of the table in a league that is proving, as always, to be balanced and uncertain”.
