Tottenham striker Richarlison is tipped for a return to former club Everton in January. The Brazil international enjoyed a fruitful four seasons with the Toffees, scoring 43 goals in 135 Premier League appearances before departing for Tottenham in 2022.

Everton boss David Moyes has now added the player to the top of his January wish list according to Football Insider. The Toffees have struggled in front of goal this season, with Beto and new signing Thierno Barry so far struggling for consistency.

Everton has been linked with a move for Al-Ahli striker Ivan Toney, but former CEO Keith Wyness revealed that Richarlison is actually the frontrunner according to his sources. Wyness served as Everton CEO from 2004 to 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs.

Speaking to Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness said that Richarlison’s familiarity with Everton and his motivation to stake his claim for Brazil’s World Cup squad makes him the “safer bet” ahead of Toney.

A Richarlison departure could start a transfer merry go round, with Tottenham reportedly leading the race to sign Ivan Toney. Spurs boss Thomas Frank is understood to be keen to reunite with his former Brentford talisman, who is seeking a return to Europe ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

Toney scored 36 goals in 83 Premier League appearances under Frank, 20 of which came during a sensational 2022/23 campaign. While Tottenham are understood to be preparing to invest heavily in a new striker over the summer, a temporary loan for Toney in January could help soothe their goal scoring woes in the meantime.

Spurs are also known admirers of Porto ace Samu as well as Juventus pair Jonathan David and Dusan Vlahovic. A sensational return of former Spurs talisman Harry Kane has also been mooted from some corners of the rumour mill, as Tottenham reportedly await fresh investment coming in the near future.
