Ange-Yoan Bonny’s rise at Inter has been one of the most striking stories of the season.
Still only 22, the French striker has already shown the maturity, composure and work ethic of a far more experienced player.
His performances under Cristian Chivu have drawn widespread praise, particularly for how seamlessly he has adapted to Inter’s tactical system and physical demands.
Former Parma assistant Antonio Gagliardi, who coached Bonny during his early development, told SoFoot.com, via TuttoMercatoWeb, that his rapid progress has not come as a surprise. “I thought the beginning would be difficult,” he admitted, “but he’s managed to settle perfectly at what is, today, the biggest club in Italy.”
Gagliardi believes Bonny’s intelligence and flair make him unique.
“He’s a No.10 in a No.9’s body,” he said. “An elegant striker, comfortable on the ball, capable of dictating play through dribbles or passes.”
He added that Bonny thrives when playing alongside a partner, as seen in Chivu’s fluid 3-5-2 formation. “He’s more free, almost like a playmaker. That’s why Inter is the perfect fit.”
Bonny’s blend of creativity and physical strength has already earned comparisons to past greats, but Gagliardi insists his focus and humility will keep him grounded.
The young forward, he says, “has everything to become one of Serie A’s most complete modern attackers.”
