Tottenham eyeing free transfer for Juventus talisman

Tottenham are keeping tabs on the situation of Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic. The Serbian’s contract is due to expire on June 30, 2026 and is currently not close to an agreement on an extension.

The stumbling block appears to be financial, with Juventus hoping to lower the player’s €12m per year salary. Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport has reported that Spurs, alongside Barcelona and Bayern Munich are interested in signing the player as a free agent in the summer and can offer more than what Juventus can propose.

Much will also depend on the player’s relationship with new manager Luciano Spalletti, with Vlahovic reportedly interested in the boss’ tactical vision. Spalletti replaced the sacked Igor Tudor in late October and led Juventus to a 2-1 win over Cremonese in his first match with the club.

Juventus then drew 1-1 with Sporting in the Champions League on Tuesday, with Vlahovic scoring the equalizer. Spalletti joins on a deal until the end of the season that renews automatically if Juventus qualify for the Champions League.

With the player and manager out of contract at the same time, much will depend on Juventus’ fortunes for the rest of the season before any transfer decision is made.

Vlahovic was previously linked with Tottenham’s arch rival Arsenal in the summer of 2022 while at Fiorentina. He joined Juventus instead in a €70m deal, and has since scored 46 goals in 114 Serie A appearances for the club.

He is reportedly open to a move away from Italy in the future, with a host of clubs know to be admirers. Spurs continue their search for a No.9, having struggled to find a replacement for Harry Kane.

The former Spurs talisman departed the club in 2023, and Tottenham have since deployed several options in his absence. Dominic Solanke was signed in 2024 but has suffered from injuries for most of his time at the club.

The same can be said for Richarlison who has deputized as the striker in Solanke’s absence, and this summer’s loan signing Randal Kolo Muani who has struggled to make his mark at the club so far. Spurs are also known admirers of Porto ace Samu and Vlahovic’s Juventus teammate Jonathan David.
