Champions League line-ups: Olympique Marseille vs. Atalanta

Champions League line-ups: Olympique Marseille vs. Atalanta

Atalanta hope Nikola Krstovic, Ademola Lookman and Charles De Ketelaere can revitalise their fortunes, but it’s a tough Champions League trip to Roberto De Zerbi’s Olympique Marseille.

It kicks off at the Stade Velodrome at 20.00 GMT.

You can follow all the build-up and action as it happens from this game and Inter-Kairat Almaty on the Liveblog.

La Dea are feeling the pressure after a series of unconvincing results, scraping five consecutive stalemates before losing 1-0 to Udinese on Saturday.

Things haven’t been much better in the Champions League, losing 4-0 to Paris Saint-Germain, beating Club Brugge 2-1, but then wasting dozens of scoring opportunities in the 0-0 at home to Slavia Prague.

Sead Kolasinac, Giorgio Scalvini and Marco Brescianini have not made the trip to France, with Marten de Roon and Daniel Maldini still not quite at 100 per cent after muscular issues.

Coach Ivan Juric goes all-attack with Krstovic, Lookman and De Ketelaere upfront.

Olympique Marseille are coached by former Sassuolo and Brighton boss De Zerbi, who has found it a tough start to this Champions League campaign.

Although there was a 4-0 home win over Ajax, they lost 2-1 to both Real Madrid and Sporting CP on their travels.

To make matters worse, former Italy international Emerson Palmieri is suspended, with an injury list that includes Geoffrey Kondogbia, ex-Sassuolo midfielder Hamed Traore, former Juventus man Timothy Weah, Leonardo Balerdi, Facundo Medina and Amine Gouiri.

There is still a lot of talent in the squad, most notably ex-Inter defender Benjamin Pavard and Juventus, Roma and Atalanta transfer target Matt O’Riley.

Veterans like Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can still have their say, along with the very impressive winger Igor Paixao and the inconsistent Mason Greenwood.

Olympique Marseille: Rulli; Murillo, Aguerd, Egan-Riley, Pavard, Garcia; Murillo, Højbjerg; Greenwood, Aubameyang, Paixao

Atalanta: Carnesecchi; Kossounou, Djimsiti, Ahanor; Bellanova, De Roon, Ederson, Zappacosta; De Ketelaere, Lookman; Krstovic

Ref: Jose Maria Sanchez (ESP)

Quick take: Match context: momentum and small details could decide this one, especially set-pieces and transitions. Form and fitness will matter; expect managers to rotate carefully around the congested schedule. Continental stakes raise the intensity, where away goals no longer apply but margins still feel razor thin. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
