
Ghanaian-born midfielder Salifu Ibrahim is set to switch nationalities and play for Benin at senior level. The former Hearts of Oak talisman is reportedly in talks with the Beninois football federation over the changes to his international career.Ibrahim has roots with the West African nation, making him eligible to play for the Squirrels.Although, an official announcement is yet to be made, the Ghana Football Association could convince the 25-year-old to rescind his decision.The ex-Eleven Wonders playmaker has seen a meteoric rise to his career since moving from Hearts of Oak to Kosovan giants, FC Drita.He helped the club win the league to add to his Premier League title won during his days with the Phobians in the Ghanaian topflight.Benin, who were on the brink of a historic World Cup qualification, secured a place at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.The Squirrels have been drawn in Group D alongside DR Congo, Senegal and Botswana.
