President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has assured that the Black Stars technical team will select only the best players for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Despite missing out on qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Ghana will make a return to the global stage next summer when the tournament is co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
With head coach Otto Addo yet to unveil his final squad, Okraku emphasized that the GFAs Executive Council expects the strongest possible selection.
Okraku also welcomed calls from the Minister for Youth and Sports, Kofi Adams, for transparency and merit in player selection.
He added that the association would not allow complacency to influence squad selection, stressing that performance and commitment would be the key criteria.
Ghana will learn their group stage opponents for the World Cup on December 5.
