Arne Slot confirms concerning injury update for Liverpool ahead of Brentford clash

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has delivered a sobering injury update ahead of the club’s next fixtures, particularly against Brentford on Saturday, confirming a fresh setback and a handful of lingering doubts.

Speaking about the current state of his squad, Slot revealed that Jeremie Frimpong has suffered a hamstring problem that rules him out for at least the next two matchdays, while Alexander Isak and Ryan Gravenberch remain touch-and-go for the weekend.

To compound matters, first-choice goalkeeper Alisson will also be unavailable for longer than initially hoped.

Slot didn’t sugar-coat the news on Frimpong.

“Jeremie is not in a good place… it is a hamstring injury so that’s going to take a while,” he said, confirming the player will miss the Brenford clash and next week at a minimum, as reported by Ben Jacobs.

On the fitness of Isak and Gravenberch, who have both struggled with injury issues this season, Slot said:

“Alex, not too bad. He’s a question mark for the weekend… and that’s the same to be said about Ryan.”

Both remain under assessment, and late sessions will likely decide involvement.

Isak was taken off at half time against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League as his struggles continue at the Merseyside club since joining them in the summer in a Premier League record move.

“Alisson is not in the squad tomorrow. That’s also going to take a little bit longer,” Slot conceded.

In the Brazilian’s absence, Liverpool will rely on their deputy between the sticks, Giorgio Mamardashvili.

If the Reds navigate this period with smart rotation and disciplined game management, they can limit the damage and keep momentum intact until key names return.
