
Ghana Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren expressed his delight on Thursday evening after his teams 3-0 victory over Egypt in the 2026 CAF Womens Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers.In the game played in Ismailia, highly-rated attacker Doris Boaduwaa opened the scoring in the 42nd minute to give Ghana the lead at halftime.The Egyptians saw red in the 52nd minute when Habiba Essam Mohammed made a nasty tackle on Grace Asantewaa.Substitute Mary Amponsah doubled the advantage for the Black Queens in the 85th minute from close range after coming off the bench to make an impact.Midfielder Grace Asantewaa sealed the emphatic win with a stunning strike deep into stoppage time.Speaking in his post-match interview, Kim Lars Bjorkegren described the victory as an amazing one, adding that it was not an easy match away from home.You can see that we havent been together for a while. It doesnt connect like it did a couple of months ago. But the energy was there, I believe that we did a lot of good things, and in the end, we did well.In the end, a difficult away game we won 3-0. The result is amazing. Its put us in a good position to make sure that we make the next AFCON, Kim Lars Bjorkegren said.The Black Queens are expected to return to Ghana on Friday to prepare for the reverse fixture on Tuesday, October 28.
