Champions League line-ups: Real Madrid vs. Juventus

Champions League line-ups: Real Madrid vs. Juventus

Juventus return to a three-man defence with Kenan Yildiz and Dusan Vlahovic for the Champions League trip to Kylian Mbappé and Vinicius Junior’s Real Madrid.

It kicks off at the Estadio Bernabeu at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

You can follow all the build-up and action as it happens from this game and Atalanta-Slavia Prague on the Liveblog.

The Bianconeri are in crisis after going six competitive matches without a victory, as five straight draws were followed by a 2-0 defeat to Como.

All this prompted reports coach Igor Tudor could be fired if he doesn’t turn things around over the next few games, starting in Madrid.

He therefore scraps the 4-3-3 formation and returns to a three-man defence, missing injured Gleison Bremer, Edon Zhegrova and Juan Cabal.

Kenan Yildiz supports Vlahovic, who gets the nod rather than misfiring strikers Jonathan David and Lois Openda, with Weston McKennie bolstering the midfield.

There continues to be support for Teun Koopmeiners, sending Manuel Locatelli to the bench.

Real Madrid have problems of their own too, as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dani Ceballos, Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba and ex-Juventus defender Dean Huijsen are injured, with Dani Carvajal suspended.

Ferland Mendy is back in the squad, but only fit for a spot on the bench.

They also need to keep an eye on this weekend’s upcoming LaLiga showdown with Barcelona.

It’s a battle of the young Turkish talents, as Arda Guler faces off against Kenan Yildiz, with Kylian Mbappé, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham.

Former Milan man Brahim Diaz is preferred to Argentine teenager Franco Mastantuono.

Real Madrid: Courtois; Valverde, Militao, Asencio, A Carreras; Tchouameni, Arda Guler, Bellingham; Brahim Diaz, Mbappé, Vinicius

Real Madrid bench: Lunin, Fran Gonzalez, Camavinga, Endrick, Rodrygo, Gonzalo, Fran Garcia, F Mendy, Mastantuono, Thiago

Juventus: Di Gregorio; Gatti, Rugani, Kelly; Kalulu, Koopmeiners, Thuram, Cambiaso; McKennie, Kenan Yildiz; Vlahovic

Juventus bench: Perin, Fuscaldo, Locatelli, Francisco Conceicao, Zhegrova, Adzic, Kostic, Openda, Miretti, Joao Mario, David

Quick take: Match context: momentum and small details could decide this one, especially set-pieces and transitions. Form and fitness will matter; expect managers to rotate carefully around the congested schedule. Continental stakes raise the intensity, where away goals no longer apply but margins still feel razor thin. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
