Bargain opportunity: Chelsea ready to trigger buy-back clause for versatile 21-year-old

Chelsea are reportedly showing an interest in bringing Diego Moreira back to the club after his impressive form at fellow BlueCo club Strasbourg.

The 21-year-old has shown immense potential with his performances in Ligue 1 so far this season, contributing one goal and two assists so far.

That goal and one of those assists came against Paris Saint-Germain, with Moreira causing the reigning European champions plenty of problems with his intelligent play.

According to TBR Football, Chelsea could have the option to trigger a low-cost buy-back clause for Moreira.

The west London giants initially sold the young Belgian, who can play left-back or midfield, for just £1.7m, and it’s felt that his buy-back clause won’t be much higher than that, according to the report.

Chelsea will surely continue to keep an eye on the talented young players at Strasbourg due to their links with the French side.

We’ve already seen CFC bring in talented young forward Emanuel Emegha from Strasbourg, with the 22-year-old set to join in 2026, according to BBC Sport.

It’s surely also the case that other top talents like Moreira and Julio Enciso will be on Chelsea’s radar for the next few years.

On top of that, the Blues also have talented youngsters like Kendry Paez and Mamadou Sarr on loan there.

Chelsea’s current owners have done a fine job when it comes to recruitment, bringing in some of the finest young players in world football.

Moreira is another who could fit in well at Stamford Bridge as Enzo Maresca continues to take this promising team forwards.

It will also be interesting to see who Chelsea sign next and if some of those players end up getting the chance to impress at Strasbourg like Moreira has.
