Revealed: Chiellini’s new Juventus role as club’s voice in Italian football

Giorgio Chiellini’s name was missing from Juventus’ list of candidates for the new board of directors, but far from being a demotion, it signals a shift toward a more hands-on, football-focused role within the club’s evolving structure.

The former captain, who now serves as Director of Football Strategy, will move closer to the technical and institutional heart of the Bianconeri project rather than the bureaucratic boardroom.

The decision reflects Juventus’ desire to make the most of Chiellini’s experience and credibility in football, without burdening him with administrative tasks.

According to Il BiancoNero, Chiellini will also replace Francesco Calvo as Juventus’ representative within the FIGC, taking on the role of Federal Councillor – a position that strengthens the club’s influence within Italy’s football institutions.

Working alongside Damien Comolli, technical director Francesco Modesto, and the soon-to-be-appointed sporting director, Chiellini will form part of the operational core shaping Juventus’ next phase.

The focus will be on competence, transparency, and international vision.

For Chiellini, it’s the natural continuation of his transformation from captain to executive – still defending Juventus, but now at the decision-making tables of Italian football.
