Sacchi urges Zidane to reconsider Juventus stance: ‘I have hope’

Arrigo Sacchi says that he hopes Zinedine Zidane reconsiders his stance on Juventus as he hopes to see the former Real Madrid coach take charge of the Bianconeri in the future: ‘I have hope’.

Zidane, speaking at the Festival dello Sport in Trento over the weekend, offered an update on his current employment status. The 1998 World Cup winner has not worked in football since leaving Real Madrid at the end of 2021, and is not in any immediate rush to get back in the dugout.

Zidane confirmed on Sunday that he ‘will definitely return’ to coaching in the future, but admitted that a move to take over at his former club, Juventus, is unlikely as he would prefer a job with the France national team instead.

“I don’t know. It hasn’t happened in the past, I made other choices. Juve is always close to my heart, they gave me so much when I first got there,” Zidane said on Sunday.

“In terms of the future, I don’t know. My feeling is that I want to be able to coach the national team in the future, even though I don’t mean right now. I would like to one day, but we’ll see.”

Sacchi, writing in his La Gazzetta dello Sport column, believes that Zidane would be a perfect fit for Juventus and for Serie A, and says that he still has ‘hope’ that Zizou reconsiders his current priorities.

“I wonder why a coach who created such a beautiful team isn’t in work. I know that he wants to coach France, and that’s understandable. He was a hero for his country as a player, he led them to conquering the world, and then Europe,” Sacchi wrote on Monday.

Quick take: Big picture: the update fits broader trends across the league with schedule pressure and tight tables. Supporters will watch for clarity from training ground reports and official briefings. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
