Hertha maintained their positive momentum with a first home victory of the season, as Sebastian Grønning stole the spotlight with a decisive brace.
The hosts started brightly and thought they had taken the lead when Fabian Reese’s stunning effort from the touchline found the net, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside. Münster threatened in response, forcing Tjark Ernst and Deyovaisio Zeefuik into key interventions to keep the scores level. Moments later, Hertha made their pressure count as Grønning fired home from a Michael Cuisance corner to make it 1-0 at the break.
Münster head coach Alexander Ende introduced a double change at half-time in search of a spark, but the visitors were immediately undone again. Just seven minutes after the restart, Grønning doubled Hertha’s lead with a composed finish inside the box. Marten Winkler later missed a clear chance to put the game beyond doubt.
Etienne Ameniyedo’s strike gave Münster late hope, but Hertha held firm to secure a deserved win and climb to eighth place. Münster, meanwhile, suffered a third defeat in four matches and sit 11th in the table.
Kaiserslautern extended their unbeaten home record after surviving a late Bochum fightback in a thrilling encounter at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion.
Torsten Lieberknecht’s men made a flying start, taking the lead inside seven minutes when Ivan Prtajin continued his fine scoring form with a sharp finish past Timo Horn. Bochum responded well, and Gerrit Holtmann’s deflected effort levelled the scores midway through the first half as Uwe Rösler’s side showed spirit under their new coach.
Chances were scarce before the interval, but Lautern came out firing in the second half. Horn repeatedly denied the hosts with a string of strong saves, while the woodwork also came to Bochum’s rescue.
