HSV breathe sigh of relief after first Bundesliga win in seven years

After a rough start to the season, Hamburger SV finally claimed their first win of the campaign their first in Germany’s top flight in seven years beating basement rivals Heidenheim 2–1 on Saturday.

When the final whistle blew, a wave of relief swept through the Volksparkstadion.

HSV coach Merlin Polzin told DAZN that a weight lifted off him at the final whistle.

“You could see that HSV had been waiting a long time for a Bundesliga win. All the more beautiful that we could celebrate it at home.”

“It was a performance that can be described as a hard-fought win. We’re in a process, which takes time. The second goal was a combination involving four new signings. I’m glad the guys were rewarded,” Polzin added.

HSV wing-back Miro Muheim was equally proud of the team.

“We scored goals, created a lot of chances, and at the moment we are overjoyed and the fans are too,” he told Sky.

Quick take: Match context: momentum and small details could decide this one, especially set-pieces and transitions. Form and fitness will matter; expect managers to rotate carefully around the congested schedule. We’ll keep an eye on confirmed details as the story develops from official sources.
