Ghana midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi personally turned down a late move to an unnamed Premier League club during the January transfer window, according to Viaplay. The 20-year-old FC Nordsjaelland talent attracted strong interest from England, with a reported 18 million Euros bid submitted close to deadline day. While the Danish Superliga side initially confirmed rejecting the offer, Viaplay now reveals that Yirenkyi himself opted against the transfer. The decision is said to be driven by his desire to secure regular playing time and boost his chances of making Ghanas squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by the USA, Mexico and Canada.Although the Premier League club involved has not been named, the size of the bid highlights Yirenkyis growing reputation in Europe.Yirenkyi has made 39 appearances for Nordsjaelland, scoring three goals and providing six assists, and is under contract with the club until 2030.Nordsjaelland sporting director Alexander Riget admitted the offer was significant but stressed the clubs belief in the players value."It is clear that 18 million euros is a lot of money, but if you believe the player is worth more, its easy enough to say no," Riget told Viaplay. The midfielder has earned eight caps for Ghana and will be hoping to feature at the World Cup, where the Black Stars have been drawn alongside England, Croatia and Panama.
