Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito expressed shock on Saturday after his team suffered a 3-1 defeat to struggling Heart of Lions in the Ghana Premier League. The two clubs locked horns at the Kpando Sports Stadium in what was their Week 21 fixture of the 2025/26 league campaign. On the matchday, Heart of Lions led by two goals at halftime and sealed the deal in the second half with a spirited display to merit all three points.Speaking in his post-match interview, Karim Zito admitted that losing 3-1 to Heart of Lions was surprising.According to him, his side prepared well for set pieces and could not understand why they still shipped in two goals from set plays.âThis is football for you. I wasnât expecting this score line because seriously we prepared well for this game and most especially the set pieces they scored the two goals from because we have been practicing how to defend and attack set pieces,â Karim Zito said. The defeat to Heart of Lions leaves Asante Kotoko in third place in the Ghana Premier League table.Lions on the other hand have climbed to seventh in the division.
