The latest updates claim that Curtis Jones’s contract situation at Liverpool is currently blocking a deal between Inter and Nottingham Forest for Italy international Davide Frattesi.
A series of transfer dominos could fall before the end of the January window: Nottingham Forest have reportedly sealed an agreement with Inter over a loan deal with an option to buy for €40m, but the Nerazzurri are reluctant to let the former Sassuolo man go without finding a replacement first.
Reports over the last 24 hours claim that Liverpool’s Jones is that man. There have been suggestions that Inter are closing in on the 25-year-old, also on loan with an option to buy in the region of €40m.
Liverpool, however, are keen to hold onto Jones and have not yet opened up to his departure in January. According to updates from Gianluca Di Marzio, Liverpool want Jones to extend his contract first if he is to leave on loan, given that he will be entering the final 12 months of his Anfield contract in the summer.
According to Saturday’s report, if Jones does not extend his Liverpool contract before the close of the January window, then he will not be allowed to join Inter and therefore, Frattesi will not be allowed to join Nottingham Forest.
