Ghana striker Brandon Thomas-Asante handed three-match ban for violent conduct

Coventry City forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has been suspended for three matches after being found guilty of violent conduct during Mondays Championship clash against Norwich City.The Football Association (FA) confirmed that the incident, which occurred in the first half of Coventrys 2-1 defeat at Carrow Road, was not spotted by match officials at the time but was later identified through video review.Thomas-Asante was alleged to have swung an arm into the face of Norwich midfielder Pelle Mattsson in the 34th minute, shortly before the Sky Blues took the lead through Romain Esse.Following a review, the FA charged the Ghana striker with violent conduct.The 27-year-old admitted the charge and accepted the standard punishment, resulting in an automatic three-match suspension.As a consequence, Thomas-Asante will miss Coventry Citys upcoming home fixtures against Oxford United on February 7 and Middlesbrough on February 16, as well as the away trip to his former club West Bromwich Albion on February 21.Despite the setback, the former West Brom forward remains a key figure for Coventry this season.He is the clubs joint top scorer with 10 goals, although he is currently enduring a six-game goal drought.The suspension comes as a blow to head coach Frank Lampard, who will be without one of his main attacking options during a crucial run of Championship fixtures.
