“We’ll see…”: Serie A giants interested in signing “special” Liverpool star

Liverpool’s campaign refuses to settle into a straight line.

Just when Arne Slot’s side looked to have steadied themselves after shaking off a miserable start and climbing back into contention in both the Premier League and Champions League, another stumble arrived.

A shock 3–2 defeat away to Bournemouth at the weekend has again raised questions about consistency and depth.

With the January transfer window nearing its conclusion, attention at Anfield is split.

Slot is still weighing up potential reinforcements for the run-in, but there is also growing noise around possible exits — and one familiar name is now back on the radar of an Italian heavyweight.

Juventus have revived their interest in Federico Chiesa after abandoning their pursuit of Youssef En-Nesyri, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Turin giants had been in talks with Fenerbahce over En-Nesyri, but negotiations collapsed when the striker hesitated over Juventus’ proposed deal structure. Sporting director Giorgio Chiellini confirmed the breakdown, making it clear the club would not be pushed into terms they were unhappy with.

“The situation is pretty clear,” Chiellini said. “We went to speak to the player, he expressed a few doubts on the formula of the transfer, so for us right now the negotiations are over. We cannot and do not want to buy him outright.”

He added: “We’ll see over the next few days if there are any developments or other opportunities, but for us it is over.”

One such “opportunity” could involve a reunion with Chiesa.

The Italian international, described as “special” by Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker, remains a popular figure in Turin after his spell at the Allianz Stadium between 2020 and 2024.

Now 28, Chiesa has struggled to nail down consistent minutes under Slot, leading to frustration over his role at Anfield. Reports suggest he would be open to a return to Juventus, though previous discussions failed after the two clubs could not align on valuation and deal structure.
