According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli winger David Neres is expected to undergo surgery in the coming days to resolve a tendon issue.
Brazilian winger Neres is expected to undergo surgery and remain out of action for circa two months, according to Italian media, including Gazzetta.
The former Ajax winger had a specialist consultation in London on Thursday, which, according to the report, determined that the 28-year-old requires going under the knife.
Neres sustained an ankle tendon injury on January 4 during an away win over Lazio.
Just ten days later, in agreement with the medical staff, Napoli coach Antonio Conte introduced the Brazilian in the second half of an away Serie A match at Parma, but Neres was forced to be subbed off after only 32 minutes.
According to Gazzetta, the Brazilian has undergone several rehabilitation sessions, but the pain has never really gone away.
Undergoing surgery means Neres will remain out of action for circa two months, potentially returning to action around the international break in March.
