After Al-Nassr refused to release Bento, Genoa are now reportedly turning to Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega, while talks are on with Roma for Tommaso Baldanzi.
The Grifone are trying to bring in reinforcements for coach Daniele De Rossi as they battle to avoid relegation into Serie B.
Among the main targets for the January transfer window is a new goalkeeper to compete with Nicola Leali, as Benjamin Siegrist is injured.
They had agreed terms with Bento on loan, but Al-Nassr suddenly blocked his exit for at least a couple of weeks after losing their other shot-stopper to a lengthy ban.
With that in mind, Sport Mediaset and Calciomercato.com claim that the Grifone have instead turned their focus towards Manchester City goalkeeper Ortega.
The 33-year-old German has been with the Premier League giants since 2022, but he is third in the pecking order after the arrival of Gianluigi Donnarumma.
His contract only runs to the end of the current campaign, so any fee is likely to be minimal.
Meanwhile, there are also reports that Genoa are in talks with Roma to take Baldanzi on loan, as he had been close to Verona and linked with Fiorentina in recent weeks too.
