West Ham “considering” signing former Bayern Munich defender who previously worked under Nuno Espirito Santo

West Ham United enjoyed a rare lift at the weekend, edging QPR 2-1 in the FA Cup thanks to goals from Taty Castellanos and an impressive contribution from Crysencio Summerville.

Keeper Mads Hermansen also impressed with a composed performance between the sticks.

Despite the win, Premier League struggles persist.

The Hammers sit 18th, having shipped 43 goals in just 21 matches, and defensive reinforcements are a priority ahead of January.

One unexpected option has reportedly emerged on the transfer radar.

According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Eric Dier has been offered to West Ham, giving the club a potential route to bolster their struggling defence.

A reunion with manager Nuno Espirito Santo is plausible. The pair worked together at Tottenham, with Dier featuring in 11 matches during Nuno’s brief 17-game spell in North London. The England international brings Premier League experience, leadership, and familiarity with the manager’s style—qualities West Ham sorely need at the back.

Dier, 30, spent a decade at Tottenham before joining Bayern Munich on loan in January 2024, a move later made permanent. In 2025, he moved to AS Monaco on a free transfer, but his long-term role at the French club remains uncertain.

Plettenberg wrote on X: “Understand Eric #Dier has been offered to West Ham. The club are considering the option. At this stage nothing is advanced yet, but it is an interesting opportunity for them.”

With January approaching, Dier could provide Nuno with an experienced, versatile presence in a defence that has struggled all season.
